1955 GMC 500
Look closely at the pictures and you’ll see that this is a true ’55 Five Window cab. In the GMC literature announcing all the updates for the second series models we found one place that mentioned the “Rear Quarter Windows” as an option on the larger trucks. This is a rare example, as we have never seen one in person, and there are few pictures of them on the internet. This truck is a model M502 and has Serial Number Y1044. This means it was born with a HydraMatic transmission, 302cid 6 cylinder, 146” wheel base, and has full air brakes all around. This was the 44th GMC 500 produced in Pontiac Michigan beginning March 15th 1955. It has what some call the “Butterfly” Hood, which opens from both sides. Today, this truck looks like it has its original, but non-running 302, and now has a five speed transmission and two speed rear end. The truck is very straight and it’s not bad for rust. Although there is rust in the front floors, and cab corners, patch panels to repair these areas are relatively inexpensive. This truck is ready for a restoration, or modernize everything and set it on a newer chassis. Use it to pull your other vehicles to shows and get all the attention with this one. We have a good North Dakota title, and can help arrange shipping for you.
